What we keep, and why

Last changed 30 October 2026

Prototypist keeps only what it needs to run your designs. No ads, no trackers, no selling or sharing your data for anyone’s marketing.

What we keep

  • Your email address, to send sign-in codes and to know which designs are yours, and the name you choose to give.
  • Your designs and their history: every change, by you or by an AI you connected, so any change can be undone.
  • Reference photos you add to a design. Your browser shrinks and re-saves each one before it is sent, which drops its location and camera details. Only you, and the AI apps you connect, can see them.
  • What you choose to share: guides you share (a copy of the design at that moment), photos you post of your builds with their captions, and the handle they appear under. These are public: anyone can see them, and search engines may list them. Guides you save and reports you make are private.
  • Sign-in sessions, in one cookie, so you stay signed in.
  • The AI apps you connect and the tokens you make. Tokens are stored only as a fingerprint; we cannot read them back.
  • Daily counts of edits, pictures and PDFs, to keep the service fair, and short-lived server logs for fixing problems.

Who handles it

Prototypist runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the app and its data, sends the sign-in emails, and runs Turnstile, the check that keeps bots from asking for codes. When you connect an AI app (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others), that app reads and changes your designs on your instructions, and its maker’s own privacy terms apply to what you tell it.

How long

Until you delete it. Deleting a design erases it, its history, its photos and its shared guide at once; stopping sharing takes the guide down, with the photos people posted on it. Deleting your account erases your designs, shared guides, posts, saves, reports, photos, tokens, app connections and sign-in details at once; copies held in backups expire within 30 days.

Your say

You can see and change everything above in the app, download any design as its full document, and delete anything. For anything else, write to seangerald@hawkey.co.uk.
